The Lax Federation - Niagara Invitiational
Among my summer travel I was given the opportunity to check out the Lax Federation's Niagara Invitational with the squad: Kurtis Kong, Chrome Rome and Nicola Rinaldo! The Niagara Invitational may be one of the best venues for a lacrosse festival I've attended. From Old Fort Niagara you can see the Toronto skyline and Niagara on the Lake, the fort also has a pool and 17 fields ready for some lacrosse!
The squad and I attended the tournament reporting on the games for LaxAllStars. We were able to watch some high level lacrosse, meet the future of lacrosse and enjoy Niagara Falls. We've attended a few events this summer on behalf of the squad at LaxAllStars and each event has had a unique attribute that's made it fun. Being in Buffalo's backyard it was exciting for me to attend this tournament because the professional team I play for is the home team! The Buffalo Bandits of the NLL play only 40 minutes away from Fort Niagara and there we're several Bandits season ticket holders in attendance.
One of my best memories of this event was running into my high school lacrosse and football coach from Lafayette High School, Greg Scott. He was watching his son Casey play for Finger Lakes Lacrosse Club and just enjoying the game, as opposed to coaching on the sideline. Its been a while but it was great to catch up!
On the other hand, another memorable moment was when we got a golf cart that would die every 30 ft. Little did we know that Nicola, aka the Light God, was also a MacGyver. He popped the seat up, shook some tubes and we were off to the races, until I tried to jump a curb with Kong, Rome, Nico and Mighty Mouse all aboard but we don't have to talk about that.
