Now we fight.

In the Arena Lacrosse League semi final game our squad St. Catharines Shockwave took on the defending champions, the Whitby Steelhawks. The Steelhawks came out to a very fast start, we were able to weather the storm and get settled in. As the first place team, having a bye week in the first round of playoffs isn’t always the best thing. I prefer to stay in rythm and continue playing week in and week out, at the same time the week off to rest the legs and train is always nice. Like several other games this season we were down a few goals early on, but our trust in the systems and each other helped us to prevail.

Towards the end of the game a player on the opposing team decided to give me a slash and cross check after our goalie made a save, I gave him the same back (maybe a little harder) then he proceeded to two hand slash me in the head. One thing I love about Box Lacrosse is the self regulating nature of the sport. I decided that crossed the line and thought it was time to teach this player a leasson, check out the UHWK Thrilla Vision here:

I could’ve been the bigger man and walked away, watched as they received a penalty and continue playing but in that split second I decided that I would try to impose my will on this player and teach him that isn’t okay. We ended up winning the game and moving on to the ALL Championship where we would face the Paris RiverWovles the next day!
