Playoff Lacrosse - The Old Reverse Sweep
As you know my squad the Onondaga Redhawks were facing the Allegheny Arrows in the best of 5 game semi-finals for the Can Am Lacrosse League. It has been a battle and we would need to win 3 games in a row, after losing our first 2, in order to advance to the Can Am Lacrosse League Championship. Friday night, with just enough guys to field a team the Onondaga Redhawks were victorious after coming back from a 5 goal deficit. As Dan Rodgers, Onondaga Redhawks veteran said, 'It was a character win, all heart'. In order to advance we would need all heart all weekend.
Here's my perspective of game 4.
It was a battle but we were able to come out on top! Our defense played as a unit, offense was clicking and our goalie was playing lights out. We've now tied the series 2-2, game 5 would be played Sunday in Allegheny. Game 5 is do or die for both teams. Both teams would be feeling the weekend of 2 games, as all the games have been physical. Playoff lacrosse is a game of mental toughness, physical toughness and a whole lot of heart.
My perspective of game 5:
It sure felt good to come back from a down 2 games against a solid team. I don't remember the last time I've won 3 full games in a weekend. Sure at tournaments for fun and what not, but these were 3 playoff lacrosse games. All heart, was the theme this weekend. We were short on guys, but not on heart. We will need to continue to elevate our game as we head to the Can Am Lacrosse championship series versus an undefeated Tuscarora team.
